Immediately following the Junior Women’s race, which is now scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m. CT, the race venue will need to be cleared due to approaching storms. All spectators and athletes need to leave the venue by 4:15 p.m. All staff must be out of the venue by 5 p.m. Packet pick-up will be open until 5 p.m. at Butler Field
The Event Alert System (EAS) communicates the status of course conditions to participants, volunteers and spectators on race day. The levels range from Low (green) to Moderate (yellow) to High (red) to Extreme (black) based primarily on the weather.
Look for EAS communications at the start, the main venue, in the Tri-Festival, at packet pick-up, at aid stations and via public announcements. Updates will be announced at the venue, posted on chicago.triathlon.org and communicated on facebook.com/worldtriathlonchicago and twitter.com/WTS_Chicago.
All participants should familiarize themselves with the Event Alert System prior to the event, remain alert for directions from race officials and announcers and take precautions to prepare properly for varying weather conditions on race day.
