From Monroe Harbor to Buckingham Fountain, the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago swim, bike and run course is fast and challenging, highlighting some of Chicago’s greatest landmarks. The bike-friendly course has never been used in a race before in Chicago until now. The course features multiple laps on the bike and the run, similar to the elite events, allowing spectators to see athletes throughout the race.
Athletes start at Queen’s Landing and swim along the seawall and exit at the south end of the harbor near the Field Museum. After transition, athletes exit Grant Park and bike throughout the City of Chicago and will get the opportunity to bike underground on Lower Wacker — the famous setting of “The Blues Brothers,” “Batman Begins” and “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” among other movies and TV shows.
The fast run course will follow a path through Grant Park before looping along Columbus Drive. After completing the run course, athletes will finish on the blue carpet at historic Buckingham Fountain.
There will be two aid stations on the run course for age-group races. An assortment of BOOM energy gels will be available at one aid station. Water and Gatorade will be available at both aid stations. Aid station 1 is located near the south turnaround of the run course. Aid station 2 is located near the north turnaround of the run course south of the Jackson Drive/Columbus Drive intersection.
