Public Transportation – Chicago Transit Authority (CTA)

All CTA bus routes are fully accessible to customers with disabilities. Lifts and ramps on all buses are available for use upon request by anyone who has trouble with steps, even temporarily. Get schedules, maps and more information from System & Route Guides.

The following list shows train stations which are accessible. All CTA trains have accessible features, including locations inside cars where a wheelchair can be secured. Get schedules, maps and more information from System & Route Guides.

Helpful tip: Check CTA System Status before you go for information about events (including service changes and elevator notices) which may affect your trip.

(Bike) Mechanics
In addition to the bike mechanic support rendered by the event’s official bike shop – Element Mulitsport - the presenter of the ITU World Paratriathlon Chicago, local paratriathlon club Dare2tri will also have a mechanic at their expo booth at various point throughout the weekend who is very familiar with all types of paratriathlon bikes including hand bikes and tandems. 

The Bike Rack/Creative Mobility
The Bike Rack features Creative Mobility. Over 20 years experience in adaptive cycling and 40 years working with cyclists of all abilities. Complete training center with coached classes and performance testing and training. We also specialize in fitting using the best tools and methods available. We now offer motion capture to compliment Serotta and Trek fitting methodology.  We have expertise in all types of adaptive cycling including hand cycles, recumbent trikes, adaptive trikes, tandems and modification to upright bikes. Large selection of Trek bicycles including road, triathlon, mountain, cyclocross and hybrid. Over 50 adaptive cycles available for test rides, fitting, demo or rental. Some of our brands are Invacare, Catrike, Ice, Terratrike, Freedom Concepts, Trek, Co-Motion. If you are coming from far away call ahead for an appointment so we can set aside time to take care of your needs and get you back on the road.

There are two accessible pools within two miles of the official event headquarter hotel Hilton Chicago.

Regular Pool Hours:  Mon – Fri 24 hours; Sat  7am - 7.30pm; Sun  7am - 7.30pm
Official Practice Hours: Mon, June 23 – Fri, June 27 2:00pm – 4:00pm
During this time, one reserved dedicated lane will be available for elite athletes and elite para athletes. Athletes may also use the pool outside of these hours; if used outside of the official event practice hours, lanes have to be shared with regular health club members.

Accessibility: Elevators to get to the floor where the pool is located; wheel chair athletes can get to the edge of the pool without any obstacles
Please note: no hydraulic lift is available to get into and out of the pool.

Official Practice Hours: No special practice hours or reserved lanes are available. Pool usage has to be shared with regular health club members.

Accessibility: Pool is wheelchair accessible and does have a hydraulic lift.

Technical and Clinical Support Specific for Para Athletes
Scheck and Siress is proud to support athletes coming to Chicago to take part in the ITU World Paratriathlon events.  They are especially proud of their patients that have achieved high levels of success in the sport including several reigning and former world champions.  Scheck and Siress is offering support services to athletes coming to Chicago to compete.  We will have a team of technicians and clinical staff available for any needs that arise to support equipment for athletes.
